TxDOT continues work all over the region
TYLER, Feb. 1, 2012--Intermittent closures planned for SH 31, SH 155 in Smith County. Construction crews working on Segment 3A of Toll 49 are scheduled to briefly halt traffic on SH 31 on Saturday (tomorrow) while they complete setting bridge beams for the Toll 49, Segment 3A overpass at SH 31 west of Tyler.
That work is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and last throughout much of the day. Lanes will be closed and traffic will be halted while beams are being lifted and placed over the roadway.
Once the work at SH 31 is completed, crews are scheduled on Monday to begin the same work at Toll 49 and SH 155. Most of the work on the SH 155 end can be performed without affecting traffic, but setting some beams will require traffic to be stopped.
The work is scheduled to take approximately two days to complete.
Motorists are encouraged to be prepared to stop in each work area, and to seek alternate routes if possible to avoid delays.
Segment 3A of Toll 49 runs between SH 155 south of Tyler to SH 31 west of Tyler, connecting the existing segments of Toll 49 between FM 756 (Paluxy Drive) and Segment 3B, which is being built by the North East Texas Regional Mobility Authority.
Segment 3B, which will connect SH 31 with Interstate 20, is scheduled for completion in 2013, according to the NETRMA.
Segment 3A is scheduled for completion in 2012.
The eastern-most segment of Toll 49, known as Segment 5, will connect FM 756 with SH 110 near Whitehouse and is scheduled for completion in 2012.
