LONGVIEW, Jan. 31, 2012--Longview Police Department was notified that the Department has been awarded a ‘Recognized” status by the Texas Police Chiefs Foundation, Law Enforcement Agency Best Practices assessors. 
 
This review is completed every four years.  The award is based on 164 best practice categories that are graded by a group of assessors that spend several days at the Department. 
 
These rigorous standards were developed to aid Texas Law Enforcement Agencies in providing the best quality of service to the public. 
 
Longview Police Department is one of approximately 50 agencies recognized under this program.
