WEDNESDAY'S PET
MAY 15
EMMIE

Emmie is a small – Border Collie Mix, approximately 1 ½ years old. Emmie weighs about 25 lbs. and has a short black coat with some white markings. She was a stray and has been at the shelter since March 12. She is current on all of her shots.

Emmie has serious herding instincts!! She is sweet and affectionate, and loves to run, play and mostly herd everything!

It doesn’t seem as if she has spent much time in a house. She plays well with other dogs and no aggression has been noted, except that she ties to herd them the whole time.

She would be a great agility dog.  She could be an inside or outside dog. She needs a family who will work her or kids who will play with her.  Emmie will need a lot of exercise.

Note: When visiting with Emmie at the shelter, request she be taken out and put in the grassy fenced area.  Give her lots of time to calm down, she is very active!!

WEDNESDAY'S PETS
MAY 8
LUCY AND ETHEL (ADOPTED)

GREEN LIGHT SPECIAL! TWO FOR $125.00!

Lucy and Ethel are Blue Heeler puppies, approximately eight months old. They are extremely sweet, submissive and snuggly. These puppies crave attention and direction. They love playing with each other dogs, showing absolutely no aggression toward other dogs.

Lucy and Ethel have both been taught to fetch a rope and return it, showing they shouldn’t be difficult to train. They are pretty good at sitting on command, but have a hard time staying still for more than a few seconds, as they are still puppies and have P.A.D.S. (Puppy Attention Deficit Syndrome.)

These puppies could be inside dogs with supervision until they are older. They have a deep bark that makes it sound as if they are much bigger!

Note: When visiting with Lucy and Ethel at the shelter, request they be taken out separately and give them plenty of time to wind down. They act very hyper at the shelter because they crave attention so badly. Please do not judge them by this behavior. Spend alone time with them outside, one at a time to better understand their personalities!

WEDNESDAY'S PET
MAY 1
HOPE

Hope is a 15 pound female Terrier Mix, who is approximately six months old. She has a short black coat with white and tan markings. Hope was surrendered to the shelter by her owner about a month ago. All of her shots are current.

Hope is sweet and affectionate and loves to run and play! She seems to be house trained and has shown no aggression toward other dogs. She would make a great agility dog, and could be housed indoors or  outdoors. She is fairly obedient when she actually slows down!

Note: When visiting Hope at the shelter, request that she be taken out and put in the grassy fenced area. She will then need time to calm down, as she still loves to act like a puppy!

WEDNESDAY'S PET
APRIL 25
SHADOW

Shadow is a 2-year-old male, Newfoundland possibly Akita Mix. Shadow weighs about 100 - 120 lbs. He has a medium length black coat with a white mark on his chest. He has small dark brown eyes that look like a bear.  He is huge but still very much a puppy and loves to play. He is a gentle giant.

Shadow would do best with neutered, male dogs, as he loves females a little too much! He has a very protective personality and will be very protective against intruders.  He is somewhat obedient; He will come sometimes, and will sit when told.  He loves to gently put his paws on your shoulders and smile at you straight in the face.

He is very affectionate and lovable, with no aggression toward other dogs. He definitely needs a large, well fenced yard.

Note: When visiting Shadow at the shelter, request that he be taken out and put in the grassy fenced area. He will then need time to calm down, as he still loves to act like a puppy
!

Lloyd has a fun personality and will be very protective over his owner.  He is somewhat obedient. If he’s not busy checking something out.

He is very affectionate and lovable though. He will be a great lap dog, too.  Lloyd gets to stay up front with the shelter mascot Suzie…so he is a bit spoiled.

MARCH 28
SUMMER

Summer is a two-year-old Lab/Weimaraner Mix. She is about 50 lbs. She is extremely timid and may have been abused, so she is very cautious and slow to approach people.

The entire time she has been at the shelter, she has never held her head or tail up, or shown any happiness. However, at the Dogwood Trails Festival on March 24, she was happy as could be. She began to wag her tail and look at people when she walked by them.

She is a full grown dog, with a beautiful, short, shiny dark chocolate coat and hazel eyes.

She seems to be somewhat house trained and got along great with other dogs.

MARCH 21
SHAI

Shai is a 9-month-old Lab/Border Collie mix and has been at the shelter since she was 4 months old. She is approximately 30 pounds.

Shai is a very sweet dog and gets along well with other dogs. She was observed to have been friendly toward children by the family that found her and brough her into the shelter. She is almsot full grown and will probably weigh about 40 pounds.

Shai has short hair and reddish in color. When you go to see Shai, give her a little time to get to knnow you and calm down. She's still young and needs to stretch her legs. She's never had a home and she deserves a loving family.

MARCH 7
SANDI

Sandi is a female ChiWeenie that weighs about five pounds and is two-years-old. She was a stray, found on January 30. She is current on her shots.

Sandi is a great inside lap dog and is very sweet, cuddly and loveable. She is motivated by treats, but not really a big food eater. She has short hair and seemed very friendly toward strangers, but her demeanor with small children is unknown. She is non-aggressive towards other dogs but hasn't been around cats yet. She is very small!

Sandi loves to be played with and she really needs attention.

WEDNESDAY'S PET (ADOPTED)
FEBRUARY 29
BENJI

Benji is a male Mini-Schnauzer that weighs about 20 pounds and about two and a half years old. He is recently neutered, current on his shots and has been micro-chipped.

Benji is very quiet and calm-natured. He is very obedient and knows how to sit and likes to be rewarded with treats. He is not a typical hyperactive schnauzer, he has hardly barked. He is motivated by treats, but not a big food eater.

Benji will need to be groomed. He seemed friendly toward strangers and is non-aggressive toward other dogs. He has not been around cats or small children, so his demeanor is unknown.

Most Schnauzers are escape artists and will try to get out of an area to go walk around elsewhere, so it is recommended that Benji have a home with a fenced yard.

Benji is also camera shy!

He has seemed very friendly toward strangers and small children and is not aggrassive toward other dogs. His manner around cats is unknown.

Walter will probably have another active puppy year and mus thave a large, fenced yard to maintain him. He is a sweet dog!

Presley seems as if he would be easy to train and very obedient. He has a history of being friendly with strangers.

Presley is non-agressive toward other dogs. He hasn't been around cats, but observations show that he would probably be fine. He is a very calm puppy with a lot of puppy left in him.

Presley is definitely an inside dog and would probably make a great apartment dog.

WEDNESDAY'S PET (ADOPTED)
FEBRUARY 1
JODIE

Jodie is an approximately two-year-old Border Collie/Cocker Mix. She is current on her shots and will recieve a rabies shot when she is adopted. She is a medium size dog and is fully grown with a beautiful shiny dark black coat.

Jodie should be easy to train and seems very obedient. She is very friendly even towards strangers. She is submissive and non-agressive toward other dogs and cats.

When going to the shelter to see Jodie, have the staff take Jodie out and put her in the grassy fenced area because she will take a little while to warm up but once she does she is very loveable. There hasn't been any bad qualities observed about Jodie. She might be already house trained.

Jodie would make an excellent family dog and possibly a good candidate for agility training.

JANUARY 25
CHARLIE (should be known as “Good Time Charlie”)

Charlie is an approximately one-year-old male Irish Setter/Retriever mix. He is current on all his shots.
