Update: Suspect arrested for ETMC employee stabbing, robbery
TYLER, Feb. 23, 2012--Tyler Police Investigators have arrested the suspect wanted in connection to the two Aggravated Robberies that occurred at East Texas Medical Center Hospital over that past several weeks.
The suspect is identified as Royce Dewayne Allen, 33. Allen was placed under arrest around 10 a.m. on Wednesday at 2318 S. Donnybrook where he was living with his girlfriend. Allen had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for Non-Payment of Child Support.
Investigators received information this morning that led them to the identity and location of Allen. Investigators are confident that Allen is responsible for both Aggravated Robberies that took place at East Texas Medical Center.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence Allen has been staying at on S. Donnybrook and also obtained an arrest warrant for Aggravated Robbery (1st Degree Felony).
A second arrest warrant will be obtained tomorrow for Aggravated Robbery.
Allen is currently in Smith County Jail on a $300,000 bond.
TYLER, Feb. 21, 2012--On Monday at approximately 10:40 p.m., Tyler Officers responded to Medical Center Hospital located at 1000 S. Beckham in reference to an armed robbery.
According to the report, a hospital employee told Officers that she was exiting the main entrance and had been attacked by a black male suspect with a knife. The suspect stabbed the victim in the arm during a struggle and took the victims purse. The victim was treated for non-life threatening cut to her arm at Medical Center.
The suspect is described as a thin black male approximately 5’8” tall, weighing approximately 140-150 lbs. The suspect was wearing a black hooded coat, red shirt, dark pants and tennis shoes. The suspects head appears to be shaved. The suspect fled southbound from the hospital. Officers searched the area. The case is currently under investigation by Tyler Police Department Detectives.
